Bodhgaya is one of the eight holy pilgrimage sites of Buddhism. It is the site of Buddha’s enlightenment. Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree at Bodhgaya. In the afternoon you will visit the Bodhi tree, Diamond Throne, Mahabodhi Temple - a World Heritage Site at Bodhgaya, and the temples constructed by the Buddhist countries.
After dinner, stay overnight.
Day 02: Bodhgaya-Nalanda-Rajgir-Patna (110 kms)
After breakfast, our representative will take you to Patna, the capital city of Bihar. Enroute you will visit Rajgir and Nalanda. Rajgir is a pilgrimage site where Nalanda is the site where the ancient Buddhist University was flourished from the 5th century to 12th century AD. The remnants of Nalanda are preserved.
Rajgir is related to life of Lord Buddha. Visit the Buddhist temples, monasteries, pagoda and monuments, Jivakameavan Gardens where Jivaka medicated Lord Buddha, Ajatshatru Fort and Stupa, Cyclopean Wall,Venu Vana residence of Lord Buddha, Shanti Stupa with four glimmering statues of Buddha, etc.
Drive to Patna and on arrival take the hotel.
Day 03: Patna-Vaishali-Kushinagar (230 kms)
Have breakfast at the hotel. Then you will be taken to Kushinagar, the site of Buddha’s mahaparinirvana. Enroute you visit Vaishali.
Vaishali is the site where the second Buddhist council was held here under King Kalasoka. Lord Buddha visited this city many times. The British archeologist Alexander Cunningham discovered this site. Visit Kolhua where Buddha preached his last sermon and explore the Vaishali Museum.
On arrival at Kushinagar, stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Kushinagar-Lumbini (161 kms)
On the 4th day of India Buddhist Tour, you will drive to Lumbini. After breakfast, you will visit the Buddhist attractions at Kushinagar. Lord Buddha attained complete nirvana at Kushinagar. At the age of 80 Buddha died owing to illness. The major teachings of Buddha, the thirty-seven wings of enlightenment are delivered by Buddha at Kushinagar.
Visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple which has an image of “Dieing-Buddha", Nirvana Chaitya (Main Stupa) that was excavated by Carlleyle in the year 1876, Ramabhar Stupa, Matha Kuar Shrine, Meditation Park, etc.
Drive to Lumbini. You have to cross the border of Nepal to reach Lumbini. On arrival you will be accommodated at a Lumbini hotel.
Day 05 : Lumbini - Sravasti (254 kms)

n the early morning you will explore the Buddhist attractions at Lumbini. Lord Buddha was born at Lumbini and he spent his early years of life at Kapilvastu located near Lumbini. Visit the Maya Devi temple, Pushkarni the holy pond where Maya Devi is said to have a bath before Buddha’s birth. You will also visit Kapilvastu.
Then drive to Sravasti located in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. According to legends it was at Sravasti that Buddha amazed his critics performing many miracles. One of the Commentaries of Buddha says that Buddha spent 19 rainy seasons at Jetavana and 6 rainy seasons at Pubbarama.
On arrival take the hotel. Then tour Sravasti and explore the Buddhist ruins and monuments.
Day 06 : Sravasti - Varanasi
After breakfast, drive to Varanasi, the holy city of Hindus. It is one of the oldest inhabitant cities in the world. Hindus want to visit Varanasi once in a year.
On arrival at Varanasi, take the hotel. In the evening explore the Ghats of Varanasi. After dinner, stay overnight.
Day 07 : Varanasi - Sarnath - Bodhagaya (240 kms)
In the early morning visit the Ghats of Holy River Ganga, enjoy boat ride to explore the morning activities on Ganga. Then you will drive to Sarnath.
Lord Buddha preached his first sermon at Sarnath. Buddha traveled from Bodhgaya to Sarnath and preached sermon to his disciples. Buddhist devotees from various countries built temples at Sarnath. Explore the museum.
Drive to Bodhgaya and on arrival take the hotel.
Day 08 : Bodhgaya - Departure
Your Buddhist tours India comes to an end. In the early morning you can again tour the Buddhist monasteries of Bodhgaya. Then you will be transferred timely to the airport.
