Day 02 : Mumbai - Aurangabad (364 kms)
On the 2nd day of the Ajanta Ellora Caves Tour, you tour the Gateway of India, Film City, Hanging Gardens and Prince of Wales Museum, Local markets, beaches, etc. You can do shopping at the old markets of Mumbai. Today we would like to offer you a lunch at an exotic restaurant of Mumbai.
In the evening, you will take the train to Aurangabad which is located near to Ajanta and Ellora caves.
Day 03 : Aurangabad - (Ajanta Caves Tour)
Our representative will receive you in the morning and he will take you to the Aurangabad hotel. After checking in at the hotel, freshen up. Then you set out the guided Buddhist tour to Ajanta Caves. The caves of Ajanta date back to the 2nd century BC and comprises of chaitya halls (Stupa monument halls) and viharas (monastic halls). The paintings, scriptures and rock cut architecture of Ajanta Buddhist caves belong to the Mahayana sect of Buddhism. The caves of Ajanta are a World Heritage Site. Explore all the caves of Ajanta and get the truth why these caves are called masterpieces of Buddhist art.
Return back to the hotel and after dinner stay overnight.
Day 04 : Aurangabad - (Ellora Sightseeing Tour)
Have breakfast at the hotel. Then get ready for a full day sightseeing tour to Ellora Caves. The caves of Ellora represent rock cut architecture of three religions--Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Explore the caves of all religions. There are a total of 12 Buddhist caves at Ellora which are excavated out of the Charanandi Hills. Then you will be taken to the Dulatabad Fort and Aurangabad Caves which reveal tantric influences. The Dulatabad Fort is 3 km. from Aurangabad and it is one of the oldest surviving forts of India. The caves of Aurangabad date back to 3rd to11 century AD and belong to the Buddhist era.
Return back to the hotel and check out the hotel. Board the train to Mumbai.
Day 05 : Aurangabad - Mumbai
On the 5th day itinerary of India Buddhist Tour to Ajanta and Ellora, you will reach Mumbai early morning. Check in at the hotel for the last night in Mumbai. Then you will set out a guided tour to Elephanta caves located on Elephanta Island in the Arabian Sea. Explore the art and sculpture of the caves which date back to the Gupta Period.
